Senior Officer, Valuation (50000194)

Job Purpose

Design and enhance advanced valuation models, analyze product financial performance, and guide junior level to ensure technical quality and audit readiness. 

Key Accountabilities (1)

1. Design and optimize advanced valuation models
- Independently construct valuation models for complex life insurance products such as unit-linked, refund-feature policies, and investment products.
- Apply technical approaches including stochastic projections, survival modeling, and sensitivity testing tailored to product features.
- Design modular model structures that support efficient testing, version control, and scalability across product types.
- Ensure model auditability and traceability in accordance with internal audit, external reviewers, and Ministry of Finance standards.

Key Accountabilities (2)

2. Financial analysis and technical assumptions
- Deliver in-depth financial impact assessments covering cash flow, profit metrics, capital strain, and long-term risk implications.
- Contribute to technical assumption setting (e.g. persistency, premium rates, expense loading, claims emergence) grounded in actual experience and reinsurance input.
- Validate assumptions by benchmarking against industry norms and cross-product comparisons.
- Build variance analysis reports to evaluate post-launch performance and product sustainability.

3. Professional quality control and team support
- Review junior level’ models and assumptions; challenge calculation logic and recommend refinements.
- Standardize technical documentation including assumption templates, model formats, and software guidance.
- Propose enhancements to valuation systems such as output structures, model automation, and integration tools.
- Act as a technical mentor in internal training sessions and support capacity building for team members.

Ministry of Finance (including the Insurance Supervision and Management Department), independent audit firms and actuarial consultants, domestic and international reinsurers and brokers, bancassurance distribution partners, insurance agents and brokers, the Vietnam Insurance Association, corporate and individual policyholders, as well as international professional bodies and accounting standard organizations (e.g. SOA, IFoA, IFRS Foundation)

Success Profile - Qualification and Experiences

Bachelor's degree required; Master’s degree in actuarial science or finance preferred. Minimum 5 years of experience, including hands-on model building and assumption development. Advantageous to have passed at least 1–2 actuarial exams (ASA/FSA/FIA).
