Director, Data Governance (Life Insurance project)
Job Purpose
- The job holder maintains, implements and ensures compliance to the Data Governance strategies, policy, standards and processes to effectively govern data.
- The job holder ensures the capability development of team to advise on proper Data Management and resolution of Data breaches.
Key Accountabilities (1)
Data Governance Development
- Establish and maintain policies and standards for end-to-end data governance.
- Define data governance operational processes (e.g., data quality measurement) in accordance with policies and standards, clearly articulating roles and responsibilities.
Key Accountabilities (2)
Data Governance Practice
- Monitor and measure compliance to standards and processes.
- Support Data Governance Councils and Steering Group by setting the agenda and preparing supporting documents.
- Solve cross-BU governance issues and escalate as needed.
- Create, manage and facilitate a Data Policy Governance process to identify and understand the critical data issues and ensure data policy enforcement and compliance.
- Ensure governance mechanisms are in place to monitor and control access to data.
- Conduct training sessions with the data stewards on the policy, standards and processes.
- Coordinate with Data Stewards for each domain to achieve defined goals within group data management.
Communication
- Support CDO, Data Tribe Lead with communication of key governance priorities and successes across the enterprise as needed.
Projects Management
- Manage project conflicts, challenges and dynamic business requirements to keep operations running at high performance.
- Work with team leads to resolve people problems and project roadblocks, conduct post mortem and root cause analyses to improve practices for maximum productivity.

PEOPLE MANAGEMENT
- Oversee human resources planning and execution (headcount & costs) of their function/ sub- function
- Attract, onboard and retain the right talents for a high- performing team
- Establish and communicate sub- function/ function and individual KRAs/ KPIs, goals, action plan, expectations and results to reporting line
- Manage sub- function/ function performance & provide feedback regularly (following the annual performance management cycle)
- Define team’s capability requirements and enable team member’s professional and personal development through capability assessment, training, coaching & feedback, mentoring, etc.
- Motivate and recognize team members’ contributions towards the team’s shared goals
- Responsible for developing talents within the function/ sub- function
- Act as a role model and promote corporate culture at function/ sub- function level
- Understand & communicate relevant HR offerings to team members.

Success Profile - Qualification and Experiences
Qualifications
- Bachelor's and Master’s degree in finance, risk management, statistics, mathematics or quantitative analys
Work Experience
- 12+ years of relevant experience with data governance standards and practices, and Data Governance programs, with minimum 4+ years of experience in leading team
- Experience in data management (quality, metadata, security, privacy, interaction)
- Experience in communicating and problem solving complex and technical analysis accross a diverse team
- Deep understanding of Information Security principles to ensure compliant handling and management of data
- Experience in Agile Software Development and has a strong understanding of Agile principles, practices and scrum methodology
- Experience working in (Agile) teams to lead successful digital transformation projects, involved in the end-to-end planning to implementation
